Cat Grooming Questions and Concerns
Why should I groom my cat if they groom themselves?
Cats do a good job with basic upkeep, but they often miss the big stuff. Mats, long claws, and dirty ears can all happen despite daily self-grooming. Older, overweight, or long-haired cats often struggle more than others.
What if my cat doesn’t tolerate grooming?
That’s exactly the kind of cat we work best with. We specialize in grooming fractious, anxious, and high-strung cats. We use gentle techniques, work slowly, and adjust to your cat’s temperament. If your cat has been rejected by other groomers, we’re still open to trying.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes—all services are by appointment only. We don’t accept walk-ins to protect the calm environment we’ve built for cats.
What grooming services do you offer?
We offer nail trims, brushing, de-shedding, sanitary trims, lion cuts, and ear cleaning. Oral and topical medications can be administered at no extra cost.
How long does grooming take?
Most grooming appointments take 45–90 minutes, depending on your cat’s coat and behavior. We’ll give you a rough estimate when you drop off.
Are vaccinations required?
Yes. We require proof of up-to-date rabies and feline distemper (FVRCP) vaccines for every cat we groom or board.
Cat Boarding: What to Expect
What’s different about your cat boarding setup?
We don’t board dogs. Period. Becky’s Cat Services is a feline-only environment with private, quiet enclosures designed for cats to relax without noise or stress. Each cat gets clean litter, fresh water, and plenty of attention.
Can you board special needs cats?
We can board cats with certain medical needs, and we administer oral/topical medications free of charge. However, we do not board diabetic cats due to the risk involved with insulin. For immune-compromised cats, we offer a quarantine space—but this requires a consult with your veterinarian in advance.
What should I bring when boarding my cat?
Bring your cat’s food, any medications with instructions, and vaccination records. You’re welcome to bring a favorite blanket, toy, or bed to help them feel more at home.
Do you do group play or shared enclosures?
No. All cats are housed individually unless they’re from the same household. We do not do group play, and we never mix unfamiliar cats.
How do I know my cat will be okay while I’m gone?
We’re trained to observe subtle signs of stress or illness. If anything seems off—like if your cat stops eating or shows signs of discomfort—we contact you and, if needed, your vet. We provide honest updates and gentle care to keep your cat safe and comfortable.
Booking, Policies, and General Info
How far in advance should I book?
As early as possible! Our schedule fills quickly, especially around holidays. Call in advance to reserve your cat’s spot for grooming or boarding.
Do you charge extra for giving medication?
No. Oral and topical medications are included in our grooming and boarding services. Just be sure to provide clear instructions when you drop off your cat.
What happens if I don’t have proof of vaccines?
We cannot accept cats without proper vaccination records. Please plan ahead and bring documentation from your vet before your appointment or boarding date. Exceptions may be made with written approval from your veterinarian.
Do you groom or board kittens?
Yes, as long as they are at least 12 weeks old and have their required vaccines. We love helping kittens get comfortable with grooming from a young age.
Can I stay with my cat during the grooming session?
We usually recommend dropping off and picking up later. Most cats behave better when their humans aren’t present, and it allows us to work calmly and efficiently. But we’re happy to chat if you have specific concerns.
